Francis E. Maioli

Francis E. Maioli, a longtime teacher and resident of Stoughton and West Barnstable, died Thursday night, January 21, the day before his 92nd birthday. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of Nicole L. (Gosset) Maioli. Born in Verrucchio, Italy, he came to the US at age 3 and settled in Roxbury. He was raised in Roxbury, Dorchester and Savin Hill and was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and honorably served his country in WWII in the 4260th Quartermaster Truck Company. Upon arriving home, he continued his education at Suffolk University and earned his Masters Degree in Education from Boston State College. He worked as a teacher in the Stoughton School System for over 35 years, teaching business classes, driver education and photography. He was most proud of establishing the SHS Photography program and color lab for both day and adult evening classes. He and his beloved camera were a constant at school and town events where he documented life in Stoughton in the 60's, 70's and 80's. He was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and served on the Stoughton Housing Authority and the Barnstable Disability Commission. Mr. Maioli was a devoted and beloved grandfather who enjoyed photography, boating, fishing, gardening, tinkering and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters; Nadine M. Bradshaw and her husband Douglas W. Bradshaw of Raynham and Corinne N. Maioli and her husband Patrick J. Noonan III of Easton. Known as "Happy" to his grandchildren, he is survived by Kyle Bradshaw and his wife Erica, Ryanne Sanderson and her husband Robert, Meredith Goldberg and her husband Craig and Liam Noonan. He was the great grandfather of Madison Goldberg and Riley Sanderson.
