Francis J. Kilday, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 24. He was the husband of Margaret Frances (Hughes) Kilday. Born in Roxbury, he was raised in West Roxbury and graduated from Mechanical Arts High School. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1953. Mr. Kilday served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of World War II. He was an assembler at Westinghouse Electric in Hyde Park for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making wooden toys for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kilday is survived by his children, Constance A. O'Brien of Quincy, John F. "Jack" Kilday of Norton, Robert J. Kilday of Avon, Judith M. Kilday of Stoughton, Paul J. Kilday of Marshfield, Francis J. Kilday of North Carolina, Margaret "Meg" Floro, Anne E. Greer and Richard E. Kilday all of Stoughton. He was the brother of Jeanne Tedesco of Winchester. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 27 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 3-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
