Francis H. "Butchie" Cronin, 71, died Saturday, January 10 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a short period of failing health. Son of the late Joseph P. and Margaret (Flanagan) Cronin, he was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Mission Hill. Mr. Cronin was a longtime resident of Brockton before moving to Middleboro 5 years ago. He worked as a roofer for Local 33 Roofers Union in Boston for many years, retiring several years ago. Since his retirement, he founded Cronin & Sons Roofing with his son Kevin, where he worked for several years. He also enjoyed working with his son Jay with his company, JP Cronin Construction. He was known as a witty man, with an endless supply of funny one-liners. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Keith R. Cronin and his wife Traci of TX, Denise P. Masaitis and her husband Michael of RI, Kevin F. Cronin of Taunton, Kaulene M. Cronin of E. Taunton and Joseph P. "Jay" Cronin and his wife Kerri of Middleboro. He was the father of the late Maureen F. Russell. Mr. Cronin was the beloved Papa of Tiffany, Jonathan, Joshua, Cassidy, Justin, Kelsea, Madisonn, Jordan, Kasey, Delainey, Patrick and Matteo and the great grandfather of Adilyn and Jackson. He was the former husband of the late Karen (Smith) Cronin. He was the brother of Carol Galpin of Stoughton, Richard Cronin of Roslindale, Edward Cronin of Brockton and the late Joseph Cronin and Robert Scales. He is also survived by his loving companion Karen Paxton and her son Damion Paxton and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at the Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St., Mission Hill, Boston at 10:30 AM.
