Francis A. Cleary, 77, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Jean M. (Noble) Cleary and the late Joan (MacEachern) Cleary. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years, before moving to Lakeville 4 years ago. Mr. Cleary worked for Motorola in Waltham for over 25 years as a salesman before starting his own company, Cleary Communications in 1993. He retired in 1997. He was a former member of the Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cribbage, traveling to St. Martin, spending time at his cottage in Lunenburg and reading the newspaper. Above all, his life revolved around his family and his grandchildren.
He was the devoted father of Cathi-ann Thomas and her husband Martin of Quincy, Cori-ann Galano and her husband John of Plainville, Cheri-ann Burns and her husband Kenneth of Brockton, Michael Cleary of Foxboro, Kerri-ann Pedro and her husband Dennis of North Attleboro, Amy Santoro and her husband Steven of Plainville, Lisa Phillips of Bourne and Sean Phillips and his partner Therese Clements of Plymouth. He was the cherished brother of Raymond Cleary of FL, John "Jack" Cleary of S. Yarmouth, Loretta Meade of NH, Louise Harvey of Pembroke and William Cleary of Woburn and the late Loren Hines and Alice Peary. He was the loving Papa of 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 72 E. Concord St, Suite C-3, Boston, MA 02118.
