Francis A. "Gus" Callanan, 78, died Wednesday, October 10, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Mary B. (Devlin) Callanan. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Boston. Mr. Callanan worked as a Roofer for Roofers Local 33 and Gilbert and Becker in Boston for over 35 years. He was a resident of Taunton for the past 11 years, previously living in Stoughton for over 35 years. He was an avid fan of the Patriots and Bruins.
He is survived by his children, Francis A. Callanan, Jr. and his wife Terri of Taunton, Kevin J. Callanan and his wife Lynne of Sharon, Maryann Callanan-Lundgaard and her husband Jeff and Robert M. Callanan all of WA, William J. Callanan and his wife Karen of Easton and Paul A. Callanan and his wife Debra of Mansfield. He was the brother of the late Joseph Callanan, Maryann Callanan and Sr. Gertrude Callanan. He was also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 16 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
