Frances C. (Moynihan) Spicer, 73, died Saturday at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of James L. Spicer. Born in Boston, she was raised in Jamaica Plain and a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. Mrs. Spicer worked for Hills Department Store in Canton as an Accounts Receivable Clerk for 10 years, retiring in 1997. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her husband James, she is survived by her children, Jane M. Fortier and her husband Kevin of Franklin, Margaret A. "Marge" Tarrant and her husband Thomas of N. Attleboro and James F. and his wife Geraldine F. of Brockton. She was the sister of Daniel L. Moynihan Jr. of Lowell and Thomas D. "Tiny" Moynihan of Stoughton. Mrs Spicer was the grandmother of Jason A. & Danielle F. Fortier, Catherine R. Rebell, David T. Tarrant and Daniel T. Tarrant. She was the great grandmother of Stephanous Kapotas.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, March 1 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Donations in Frances' name may be made to the Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice, 3 Edgewater Dr., Norwood, 02062. Burial will be private.
