Fernanda M. (Raposo) Sousa, 70, died Wednesday, September 17, at her home in Hull. She was the beloved wife of 49 years of Antonio Manuel Sousa. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was raised and educated in Sao Miguel and Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. She moved to the United States in 1965 and settled in Stoughton. Mrs. Sousa raised her family in Stoughton and, in 1985, moved to Hull, but has always loved her Town of Stoughton. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hull and a former parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She was a loving wife and homemaker and, in her free time, loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, David J. "Spanky" Sousa and his wife Maria of Stoughton, Dennis J. Sousa and his wife Michelle of Reading and Danny J. Sousa of Weymouth. She was the grandmother of Harley S. and AJ Joseph Sousa, Delaney P., Naomi F. and Dennis J. Sousa, Jr. Mrs. Sousa was the sister of Clotilde Pimentel and her husband Horacio of Stoughton, Jaime Raposo and his wife Maria, Gil Raposo and his wife Muriel, Madelena Rego and her late husband Manuel and Mariana Chora and her husband Guilherme all of CT, Zenalia Raposo of CT and her late husband, Jose Antonio Raposo and the late John Raposo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, godchildren and many dear friends.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, September 22 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-6 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
