Eugenio V. Fraga, 77, a longtime resident and business owner in Stoughton, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his beloved family, after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of 52 years of Maria Odete (Rocha) Fraga. Born on the island of Flores in the Azores, he was raised and educated in Flores. He was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army. Mr. Fraga came to the United States over 50 years ago and settled in Stoughton. Along with his brothers, he owned and operated Fraga Brothers Market in Stoughton for many years. He retired 2 years ago. He enjoyed his work and loved working in the Stoughton community. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, tending to his fruit trees and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Fraga was the father of Lizette M. Fraga, Susan S. Fraga-Mullen and her husband William Mullen and Sandy P. Afonso and her husband Victor all of all of Stoughton and the late Eugene S. "Geno" Fraga. He was the brother of Luis Fraga of Bourne, Gabriel Fraga of Stoughton, Jose Fraga of Portugal and the late Tobias Fraga, Eugenia Cardoso and Ofilia Roque. He was the grandfather of Mark and Isabella Fraga and Quinn Fraga Afonso. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, September 14, at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday, September 13, from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
