Eugene A. Comeau, 92, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Christine M. (LaCivita) Comeau and the late Frances M. (Leonard) Comeau. Born and raised in New Bedford, he was a graduate of New Bedford High School. He later served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, serving overseas for 18 months. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned home and attended Barber School. He opened his own barber shop, Gene's Barber Shop, in Stoughton and worked as a Master Barber for over 45 years, retiring several years ago. Mr. Comeau was a resident of Taunton since 1992, previously living in Brockton for over 45 years. He was a member of the Master Barber's Association. In his free time, he enjoyed square dancing and birdwatching.
Gene was the father of Edward Comeau and his wife Ann of Saddle River, NJ and the late Stephen Comeau. He was the grandfather of Christian, Kelsey, Daniel and Jack Comeau. He was the brother of Sr. Norma Comeau, CSH of New Hampshire and the late Louis Comeau and Rita Rheaume.
A Visiting Hour will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 10-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
