Ethel E. (Jackson) Steward, 80, died at home on Tuesday, July 15 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Steward. Born in Laurinburg, NC, she lived in New York for many years before moving to Sharon 12 years ago. She was educated in both Laurinburg and New York schools. Mrs. Steward was a Senior Customer Service Representative for Con Edison in New York for many years before retiring 14 years ago. In her free time she loved cooking for and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Steward was the mother of LaVerne Jewell Baptiste of Miami, FL, Charles Steward, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Sharon and the late Samuel A. Flake. She was the grandmother of SirGae Jewell, Jerry Jewell and his wife Ronnett Brown Jewell, Alysse, Jordan and Kasey Steward and the great-grandmother of Prince A. Jewell, Danny Brown and Summer Jewell. She was the sister of Lilly Jackson of NY. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 21 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior 4-7 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in Ethel's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
