Ernestine L. "Tina" (Sommerville) Andrews, 82, died Monday, April 25, 2022 at her home in East Providence, RI, after a period of declining health. Daughter of the late Jesse and Mabel (Mosley) Sommerville, she was born in Chicago, IL, raised in Roxbury and Stoughton and attended Stoughton High School. She was a longtime resident of Stoughton, and moved to East Providence years ago to be closer to her family. Mrs. Andrews was a longtime Probation Officer at the Stoughton District Court, serving over 32 years, retiring in 2006. She also was a former social worker for the Department of Social Services. She was an active member of the Stoughton Community, serving on the Stoughton Youth Commission, on the Board of Directors at Presidential Courts and as the organizer of the "Circus of the Arts" Program at Stoughton High School for many years. She was also influential with the "Patterning Program" for Special Needs patients. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, especially The Platters, and drawing.
Mrs. Andrews was the mother of Kevin E. Harris and his wife Debora of California, Beverly M. Andrews of Rhode Island, Karen M. Andrews of Assonet and the late John F. Andrews, Jr. and his surviving wife Gelineau Andrews. She was the sister of Natalie Peters of New Jersey and the late Ernest and Raymond Sommerville. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 4 from 9-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
