Ernest W. Anderson, 87, a longtime resident of Raynham, died at Morton Hospital in Taunton on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. He was the husband of Eleanor R. (Murray) Anderson for 67 years. Son of the late Ralph H. and Mildred A. (Barthelmes) Anderson, he was born and raised in Avon and graduated from Avon High School. He was a lifelong resident of Avon until moving to Raynham 27 years ago. Mr. Anderson served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II Veteran, serving on the USS Wasp in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He was a shipper for BPM and Shaw's Supermarkets for 24 years after working for Mullare News Agency for 15 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 8892 in Avon. An avid sports fan, he coached Avon Little League for many years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Anderson is survived by his sons, David E. Anderson and his wife Meg of Turner, ME and Ralph E. Anderson and his wife Sheila of Avon, as well as his granddaughter, Carly E. Anderson. He was the brother of the late Ralph, Robert and Wesley Anderson, Mildred Morse, Beatrice Sweetman, Miriam Parent and Doris McAuliffe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
