Emilia G. (Goncalves) Avila, 91, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Easton after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Manuel M. Avila. Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, she was raised and educated in Portugal. Mrs. Avila came to the United States in 1969 and settled in Stoughton. She was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two children, Maria C. Avelar of Brockton and Lucio G. Avila of East Taunton. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Antonio Leonardo, Manuel Leonardo, Teo Leonardo, Maria Leonardo and Lourdes Leonardo. She was the grandmother of Peter Avila, Andrew Avila and Connie Raposo. She is also survived by her 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 17 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Emilia's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701 or to the American Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave, Unit 2, Norwood, 02062.
