Emelia F. (Camara) Avelar, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Copley at Stoughton on Thursday, August 13, 2015. Daughter of the late Fernando and Maria Avelar, she was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1966. Mrs. Avelar was a tagger at Morse Shoe in Canton for 20 years before retiring many years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Avelar is survived by her children, Fernanda Prince of Taunton, Orlanda Avelar of Spring Hill, FL and Jose Avelar of Cumberland, RI. She was the grandmother of Madison, Shelby, Jason, Jessica, Daniel and Molly and great-grandmother of Nicholas. She was the sister of the late Lucio and John Camara and Fernanda Avelar. She was the former wife of the late Jose Avelar. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Thursday, August 20 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours omitted.
