Ellen I. (McGilvray) Sturgis, 100, died Sunday, February 8 at the Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Bradford H. Sturgis. Born in Brookline, she lived in Cambridge for many years and graduated from St. Mary's High School before moving to Stoughton. Mrs. Sturgis worked for Liggett Pharmacy and as a secretary for the Foxboro State Hospital. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Stoughton Women's Club and enjoyed traveling and bowling.
She is survived by her children: Ellen M. Sturgis of Easton and Barbara J. LaMore and her husband Richard of Stoughton. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her three brothers. She is also survived by her granddaughter Carolyn M. LaMore and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, February 11 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday, 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers donations in Ellen's name may be made to the Immaculate Conception Life Teen Program, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
