Ellen M. (Murray) O'Brien, 91, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Monday, December 16 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton, after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of 65 years of Edward F. O'Brien of Brockton. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, she was at graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1940. Mrs. O'Brien worked as an Administrative Assistant for Metropolitan Life in Brockton for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Catholic Charities in Brockton. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, reading and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved children; Kathleen O'Brien, Edward F. "Bucky" O'Brien III and his wife Sandi and Maryrose Heffner and her husband Thomas all of SC, Ann Macrina and her husband James of CT, John M. O'Brien and his wife Elaine of Avon and Colleen F. Tyer and her husband Steven of Stoughton. She was the loving grandmother of Jamie and Jeffrey Paris, Matthew, Mark Nick and Julieanne Macrina, Edward F. "Buddy" O'Brien IV, Meghan and Jonathan O'Brien, Tanya, Larry and Christin Jenkins, Sean, Dillon and TJ Heffner, Andrew and Trevor O'Brien and Margaret and James Tyer. She was the identical twin sister of Ann Roberts of SC, MaryRose Murray and Josephine Gannon both of HP and the late John "Jack" Murray. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 1-4 PM. Interment will take place at VA National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 AM. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Copley at Stoughton Activities Dept., 380 Sumner St., Stoughton, MA 02072
