Ellen C. (McNamara) McSweeney, 79, died Monday, June 25, 2018, at her summer residence in Falmouth, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edmund McSweeney. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mrs. McSweeney was the longtime Treasurer and part owner of her family business, J. F. McNamara & Sons, in Stoughton for many years. She retired 5 years ago due to her illness. Prior to working for her family business, she worked for the 1st National Bank in Boston for over 20 years and was one of the first female Officers in the history of the bank. Ellen was a member of the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton for several years. She was a dedicated aunt and, in her free time, enjoyed traveling, listening to Irish Music and spending time with her loving family.
Ellen was the sister of Lucy McElroy of Yarmouth, James F. McNamara of Brockton, Mary Lou Malone of Stoughton, Anne Condon of Hingham and the late Alice Jasmin, William A. McNamara and Kathleen DeGregorio. She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caretakers Colleen "Charlie" Reilly and Susan McNamara Norton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, June 30, at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday, June 29, from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Ellen's memory may be made to the Michael J.
