Elizabeth Ellen "Betsey" (Earley) Diomedes

Elizabeth Ellen “Betsey” (Earley) Diomedes, 80, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Monday, December 18, 2023.  She was the wife of the late John W. Lynch Sr. and the late Louis S. Diomedes.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary F. (Maguire) Earley and mother of the late Christopher Lynch who passed shortly after birth.  She was born in Waltham and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1961.  Betsey was the receptionist at the family business T.F. Earley and Son in Stoughton.  She was the friendly voice that greeted the many customers of T.F. Earley and Son and then at Atlas Oil Company in Dedham before retiring in 2016. 

Betsey was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed league bowling with her daughter and nieces.  She was an active member in the Stoughton Class of 1961 Reunion Committee for many years.

Betsey is survived by her children, John W. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Mashpee and Jane E. McGrath and her husband Paul of Stoughton as well as her grandchildren, Jack Lynch and his wife Brooke, Christopher Lynch and his wife Mary, Colin McGrath and Sarah McGrath and her great-grandson, Rowen Stewart Lynch.  She was the sister of Thomas Earley of Stoughton and the late Catherine Lopes and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Betsey is also survived by her stepchildren, Ronald, Denise Trammell, David, Joe and Terese Diomedes, and was predeceased by Michel and John Diomedes.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, December 27 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Betsey‘s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
