Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Joyce) Amelotte, a lifelong resident of Brockton, age 82, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Raynham on February 8, 2025. Born, raised, and educated in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Joseph Joyce and Evelyn Olga (Norvish). She attended Wheelock College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and went on to work as a preschool Teacher at Head Start in Brockton for over 30 years. She was a dedicated teacher, showing her love and care for the children and families that she had the honor of working with, and ultimately was made to retire in her 60’s. She was affiliated with the Red-hatters, a social group for women over 50, where she made friends and connections with many people, enjoying monthly trips with the group and weekly outings. She loved gardening, often being called the “garden dictator” as an inside joke by her family, traveling with family, and above all, she loved spending time with her loved ones.
Betty is survived by her children Kimberly Brown of Raynham, Charles Edward Brown of Virginia, and was preceded in death by her son Paul H. Amolette, Jr. She was the “Nana” to her grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Derek Brown, Nathaniel Brown, and Matthew Amelotte, and her great-grandchildren Emily Comeau, Kenneth Comeau, and Amelia Comeau. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Friday February 21st from 10-11 AM, with Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton.
