Eleanor R. (LaMattina) Schiffer

Eleanor R. “Ellie” (LaMattina) Schiffer, 84, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond A. Schiffer. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. Ellie was a resident of Stoughton since 1970. She worked for Hills Department Store in Canton as a Supervisor for many years, retiring in 2003. Ellie was a dedicated and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods, watching Wheel of Fortune, Italian Food, a good nap and spending time with her beloved family. 

Ellie is survived by her loving children, Cynthia L. Bartlett of Bourne, Raymond A. Schiffer, Jr. of NY, Paul Schiffer of Norton and Lorie Hood of Raynham. She was the sister of Agnes Caires of Woburn and Josephine Bottary of Sharon and the late Louise Michaud, Concetta Hall, Rocco, Rose and Raffaele LaMattina. She is also survived by several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 133 Federal Street, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02110
