Eleanor H. (Stranger) Peterson, 95, a resident of Marion, died peacefully at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Norton on Thursday, May 16. She was the wife of over 50 years of the late Carl R. Peterson. Born in Boston, she was educated in Dorchester schools and was a graduate of Girls Latin. She was a resident of Marion for over 20 years after living in Sharon for over 50 years. Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Norwood Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Marion VNA. Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Daughters of John Alden. While living in Sharon, she was an active member of St. John Episcopal Church in Sharon and then moved to Marion and was an active member of St. Gabriel Episcopal Church. In her free time, she enjoyed transcribing Braille, painting and crocheting.
Mrs. Peterson was the mother of Carol P. Huerth and her husband Carl, Jon R. Peterson and his wife Kathleen and the late Charles A. Peterson. She was the grandmother of Karen Whitty, Christine Venuto and Kevin Huerth. She was the sister of the late Madelyn Nelson and Herbert Stranger. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one great-grandchild.
A celebration of her life will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, May 20 at 11 AM. Family and friends are invited to a gathering prior from 10-11 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
