Eleanor "Ellie" Rose (Blute) Craven, 93, of Quincy, formerly of Stoughton, died peacefully on October 18, 2014 surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Richard Craven (Boston PD). Born and educated in Boston, Mrs. Craven was a modern woman, caring for her family while working for Gillette and the Boston School Department. Once retired, she and her husband enjoyed international travel and winters in Clearwater, FL.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Craven of Stoughton, grandchildren Elaine and Dave Selleck of PA; Michelle Barr of Stoughton, Kristen Porter and Andrea Boyer of Quincy, Scott and Sheila Handrahan of Hanover, Lauren and Chris Cape of MD; sister Agnes Showstead of Natick, MA; and great-grandchildren Melissa and Christopher Barr and Kylie and Ellie Rose Handrahan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Kaplan of Hanover, MA; and infant Richard Craven Jr. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of John Adams Healthcare in Quincy, MA. Upon her 93rd birthday, when asked how she stays so youthful, Ellie's advice: "Never pay attention to age and Pond's cold cream helps."
Services will be private with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02120 in memory of Eleanor's mother, Catherine (McKay) Blute.
