Edward R. Sessler, 91, died March 28, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a short illness. He was the husband of 46 years of the late Madeline T. (Piche') Sessler. Born in Lynn, he was raised and educated in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1942. Mr. Sessler was a Veteran of the US Navy and served in World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1952. Upon returning from the Navy, he began working at Allis Chalmers in Hyde Park, where he worked for over 25 years as the Machine Shop Foreman. In 1970, he began working at the Stoughton Post Office and continued his career there until his retirement in 1995. He was a longtime member and former commander at the American Legion Post 89 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, both in Stoughton. He was an avid Boston Sports Fan who, in his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Mr. Sessler was the father of Barbara L. Donker and her husband Jeff of MO, Paul C. Sessler and his wife Susan and Elizabeth A. Sessler all of Easton. He was the grandfather of Kristopher Eager, Michael Eager, Bryan Donker, Brandon Donker, Kelly Sessler and Colleen Sessler. He was the great grandfather of Sophie, Amelia, Tessa and Ethan Eager and Ezra and Seth Donker. He was the brother of Mary Hall of Harwich and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held IN THE HOLY CROSS CHURCH, 225 Purchase St., Easton, on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.
