Edward J. Rush, 77, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at the VA Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, December 18. He was the husband of Rose P. (Cullen) Rush. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and was a Double Eagle, graduating from BC High School, Class of 1952 and Boston College, Class of 1956. Mr. Rush was a resident of Stoughton for 43 years. He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army, serving from 1957-1959. He was a member of the DAV, Chapter 29 in Braintree and the AMVETS John McKeon Post 146 in Dorchester. He enjoyed reading and sports. He was very proud of being a Boston College graduate, his Irish Heritage and his Dorchester roots.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rush is survived by his children, Col. Edward J. Rush, Jr., US Army and his wife Linda of VA, Thomas J. Rush and James B. Rush, Stoughton FD and his wife Karin all of Stoughton, Mary Anne LoFrisco and her husband Thomas of NJ and Kevin F. Rush and his wife Dr. Janet Butts of Pembroke. He was the grandfather of Katherine, Elizabeth, Juliana, Joseph, John and Colin Rush, Ned, Eleanor, Thomas, Hallie, George and Leo LoFrisco. He was the brother of the late Ann Marie Maguire and Helen Cobb. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, December 21 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. A private interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Family requests flowers omitted.
