Edward B. Podgurski, 91, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Frances J. (Bunavicz) Podgurski for 63 years. Son of the late Bronislaw "John" and Winifred E. (McCaffrey) Podgurski, he was born and raised in Canton. Edward served in the U.S. Navy and U.S Marine Corps and was a Veteran of World War II. He resided in Stoughton since 1955. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for numerous Caterpillar Tractor dealerships for many years. Edward was a member of the American Legion Post 24 in Canton and the Easton Rod & Gun Club. He was a former Eucharistic Minister and was active with the Pro-Life Rosary Group at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
Edward was the father of Ann Marie Ronald and her husband Chuck of Canton, Joseph M. Podgurski and his wife Donna of West Bridgewater, John Podgurski, Matthew Podgurski and his longtime companion Cheryl and Mark Podgurski all of Stoughton and the late Edward F. Podgurski. He was the grandfather of Jacob Ronald, Hailey Marie Ronald and her longtime companion Bobby, Jesse Ronald, Jessica Pratt, Joseph Podgurski, Brian Podgurski, Jill Smith, Kerri Podgurski and Merry Podgurski. He was the brother of the late Joseph F. Podgurski. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, December 15 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton. Donations in Edward's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
