Edward C. Hoffman, 108, died peacefully at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on Thursday, November 7. He was the husband of 71 years of the late Margaret M. (Holmberg) Hoffman. Born and raised in Waterbury, CT, he was educated in Waterbury schools. He was a resident of Canton for 17 years after living in Dennis for 17 years and Allston for 40 years. Mr. Hoffman was an upholsterer for many years before retiring in 1973. He was very active with the Boys Scouts of America for 35 years and was the Former District Commissioner of the Boston Council. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his longtime dedication.
Mr. Hoffman was the father of William A. Hoffman and his wife Barbara of Lynnfield and the late Edward C. Hoffman, Jr. He was the father-in-law of Dorothy Hoffman of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Robert Hoffman, William A. Hoffman, Jr., David Hoffman, Steven Hoffman, James Hoffman, Edward Hoffman and Dianne Deschenes. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jake Hoffman and is survived by 18 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Alice Howell.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 13 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 10-11 AM.
