Edward F. Finn, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at the Sunrise of Braintree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Braintree. He was the husband of over 58 years of the late Noreen P. (Pray) Finn. Born in Dorchester, he was raised and educated in Dorchester and Jamaica Plain. He was a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard. Ed was a longtime member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Boston and worked in the Home Heating field for over 30 years, mainly for White Fuel in South Boston. After his retirement from the Teamsters, he worked in the mailroom at the Massachusetts State Senate from 1987-1999. Ed was an active member of the Stoughton Community, serving on several elected boards, including as a Selectman, Town Meeting Representative and as a member of the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority. He was also a member of several civic groups, including as a Life Member of the Stoughton Fish and Game, a longtime member and former cook at the Randolph Elks and as a former member of the Norfolk County Selectman's Association. In his free time, he enjoyed talking local politics and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Finn is survived by his children; Edward F. Finn, III of E. Bridgewater and Melissa L. Spathanas and her husband Frank of Whitman. He was the "Grampy" of Edward F. Finn IV, Nicole Finn, Frank Spathanas, Jr. and Michael Spathanas. He was the great grandfather of Edward F. Finn V and Fallon Hanrahan, and was the brother of Carol Gillooly of NC and the late Ann Burke and Mary Zodiaco.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, October 10, from 9-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11AM. Private burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Ed's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
