Edward Barker, 91, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton, surrounded by his devoted friends. He was the husband of the late Judith (Crawford) Barker. Born in Boston, he moved to Brockton at age 3, was raised and educated in Brockton and attended Brockton Schools. He left school early and entered the United States Marine Corps and honorably served in World War II from 1943-1945 and served again from 1947-1951. Between enlistments, he returned to Brockton High School and graduated in 1947. Mr. Barker was a longtime employee at the Town Spa Restaurant in Stoughton, retiring at age 85 after over 54 years of employment. He made many longlasting friendships during his years at the Town Spa. He was a member of the Hanson Gun Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and in his free time, enjoyed fishing, hunting and hiking in the woods.
Mr. Barker was the father of Stephen E. Barker of Taunton and the late Cynthia Barker. He is also survived by many friends and his extended Town Spa family.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the Prayers from 4-6:30 PM. Burial will be at a later date at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701
