Eduino S. Avila, 78, died Friday, August 11, 2017, after being stricken ill at his home. He was the husband of the late M. Estela (Costa) Avila. Born in Flamengos, Faial in the Azores, Portugal, he was raised in Faial and was a veteran of the Portuguese Army. He moved to Canada in 1964. Four years later, he
moved his family to the United States and settled in Stoughton. Mr. Avila worked for Plymouth Rubber in Canton for over 15 years and later worked at General Dynamics in Taunton for over 10 years until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked for several years for the Stoughton Public Schools as a courier. Mr. Avila was longtime and founding member of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton. He was a passionate soccer fan and avid supporter of Sporting FC. He was a founding member, coach and trainer of the LASA American Soccer League and the Over the Hill soccer league. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his two brothers in law, James and Carl Costa of Stoughton.
Mr. Avila leaves his two children, Jisela Avila Araujo and her husband Robert of Stoughton and Osvaldo Avila and his wife Dorothy of Taunton. He was the brother of Maria Duarte of Portugal, Manuel Avila of Canada and the late Antonio Avila, Francisco Avila and Eduina Silva. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Alexander Araujo, Brandon Avila and Samantha Avila and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Eduino's memory may be made to American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
