Edna B. (Gibson) Phillips, 94, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died November 28 at her home after a short period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Walter Phillips. Born and raised in Canton, she was a graduate of Canton Schools. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 70 years. She worked as a Teacher's Aide at the Jones Elementary School in Stoughton for several years and retired many years ago. Mrs. Phillips was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and also was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed volunteering at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home for many years. A nature lover, in her free time, she enjoyed traveling the East Coast to visit lighthouses, traveling to California to visit family, shopping and spending time with her family.
She was the mother of Barbara A. Bump of Brockton, Peggy Loycano and her husband Charles of West Bridgewater, Mary Ellen Gonsalves and her husband John, Kathleen E. Small and her husband Robert all of Stoughton and the late W. Frank Phillips and Susan E. Phillips-Roulston. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her 6 brothers and sisters and her grandson Robert S. Hall III. She is also survived by her son in law Scott Roulstone of Stoughton, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 3, at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday, December 2, from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
