Duane A. "Gibby" Gibson, of Brockton, went home to be with the Lord on July 4th, 2013. He went peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short battle with lung cancer. He was 58 years old. He was born and raised in Minnesota. He was the loving husband of Claire N. (Gianunzio) Gibson and the beloved father of Jamie K. Roberts of Minnesota and stepfather of Joseph W. Mann and wife Dina of New York and Christine Mann of Taunton.
He was the son of Don and the late Irene Gibson of Arkansas. He was the brother of David Gibson of Arizona, who was his twin, Mark and Irene Gibson of Minnesota, Bart Gibson of Washington State and Elaine Hartman of Arkansas.
Duane was the loving grandpa of Taylor Gibson, Bethany Lopp and Alissa Crippen. He was the cherished papay of Cassandra, Alexandra, Nathanial and Jonathan Mann and the great-grandfather of Ella Crippen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Duane worked as a corrections officer at MCI Norfolk for 28 years and a security officer at B.A.T. of Brockton for 18 years.
Duane was a member of the Believers Baptist Church in Stoughton, MA. He was a God fearing, family loving, devoted man who loved the Holy Scriptures.
"Gibby" as his friends called him, was well known for his contagious laugh and his famous wolf howl. He was well liked and very well loved by all who crossed his path.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, July 12 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
