Douglas J. Collins, 67, died Thursday, December 8 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Shirley H. (Keating) Collins. Born in Arlington, he was raised in Lexington and a graduate of Lexington Schools. Mr. Collins was a member of the National Guard for 8 years. Mr. Collins worked as a Numerical Control Programmer for Bird Machine in Walpole for 37 years. He retired at age 63. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with his family at his home in New Hampshire.

In addition to his wife Shirley, Mr. Collins is survived by his daughters, Donna J. Daggett and her husband Daniel of Stoughton, Susan M. Burke and her husband Joseph of Middleboro and Cheryl A. Gibbons and her husband Michael of Whitman. He was the grandfather of Jason Daggett and his wife Eileen, Kerrie Gawrys and her husband James, Craig Colp, David Colp, Jacquelyn Burke, Douglas Gibbons, Cory Gibbons and the late Edward Colp. He was the Great-grandfather of Thomas and Adam Gawrys and Hunter Daggett and the brother of Joan Gendreau, Richard, Christine and Melissa Collins all of FL, Carol Rich of NH, John Collins of Attleboro and the late Janice Prue, Walter and Stephen Collins.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 12 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
