Dorothy F. Sweet

Dorothy F. "Dot" Sweet, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Thursday, August 20, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Flaherty) Sweet. She was born in Milton, raised in Stoughton and was a proud graduate of the Stoughton High School Class of 1943. After her high school graduation and during WWII, she worked at the Charlestown Navy Ship Yard for several years. She was employed of the J.W. Wood Elastic Web Company in Stoughton for many years and the Kendall Company in Boston until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked part time for several years at the Dental Office of Dr. Mark & Dr. Goldstein.
Dot was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and a member of the Massachusetts Catholic Women's Guild in Stoughton and various Stoughton social committees, including the Reunion Committee for the Class of 1943. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her 21 nieces and nephews, including the late Jill Parrish Mahoney and the late Shawn P. Sweet, great nieces and nephews, godchildren and many loving friends.
Dot is survived by five siblings: Frank Sweet and his wife Shirley of Quincy, Barbara Moses and her husband the late Robert of Brockton, Shirley DiCorpo and her husband the late James of Stoughton, Mary Lou Parrish and her husband Stanley of Canton and Roger Sweet and his wife Mary Lou of Marshfield. She was predeceased by Eleanor M. Sarrey and her late husband Joseph, Charles A. Sweet and his surviving wife Carol of and Robert D. Sweet. She was a lifelong friend of the Mahoney family and the DiBeneditto family. Dot's family would like to thank the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St. (Rte 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, August 26 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9-10AM in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Dot's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church at the above address or to the charity of one's choice.
