Dorothy E. (Iversen) Stockus, 88, died Thursday, April 14 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Montpelier, VT following a stroke. She was the wife of the late Alphonse "Coop" Stockus. Born in Dorchester in 1923, she was raised in West Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1941. Mrs. Stockus was a resident of Stoughton for over 84 years, before moving to Vermont four years ago. She worked in the school lunch program and as a sales clerk at Women's Apparel and Germaine's in Stoughton. She was an active member and altar server at Immaculate Conception Church for many years. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook, quilt, walk and talk to neighbors, friends and family. A lifelong Red Sox fan, she also closely followed football, tennis and golf.
Mrs. Stockus is survived by her daughter Janice D. Waterman and her son-in-law Charles of East Montpelier, VT. She was the beloved grandmother of Sarah J. Waterman and Suzanne M. Waterman. She was the sister of Betty Kelley of Wareham and the late Henry Iversen, Richard Iversen and George Iversen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 19 at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours Monday from 6-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
