Dorothy "Dottie" (Hill) Badger, 85, of Canton, died Saturday, February 16 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston after a brief period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Badger. Born in Brockton, September 18, 1927, a daughter of the late Maynard M. and Olive (Morrill) Hill, she resided in Brockton nearly her entire life, until recently moving to the Canton area. Dottie married Bob on December 14, 1945. They were married for 63 years before Bob died in 2009. As a young woman she worked in a tack factory and then in the shoe industry for many years. Before retiring, she worked for many years in food service at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Brockton.
Dottie became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1957 and was associated with the Bridgewater, Brockton and Stoughton Congregations for the past 55 years. Along with a beautiful smile for everyone she met, she shared her Bible based hope for the future with confidence.
Dottie was the mother of Edna A. Kilgrew and her husband Kerry of Stoughton, Robert W. Badger and his longtime companion Linda Moy of East Bridgewater, Melody Cleveland of Texas, Phillip N. Badger and his wife Denise of Illinois and the late James E. Badger. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Meghan C. Kilgrew of Stoughton and numerous other grandchildren; her brother, George Hill and his wife Dorothy of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Stoughton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 638 Pearl St., Stoughton on Saturday, February 23 at 2:30 PM. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.
