Dorothea E. (Bowman) O'Donnell, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Monday, March 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of 50 years of the late Robert G. O'Donnell. Born in Chelsea, she was raised in Revere and attended Revere High School. A gifted seamstress, she also attended Trade School for Girls in Boston for fashion design. She was a resident of Stoughton since 1960. Prior to raising her family, Mrs. O'Donnell worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone in Revere. After raising her children, she was employed by BayBank in Stoughton as a customer assistance representative. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, sewing, traveling to National Parks with her husband and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. O'Donnell is survived by her children Marianne D. Ranalli of Walpole, Dorothea J. O'Donnell of N. Easton, Denise T. Long of Mechanicsville, VA, Maureen P. O'Donnell of Walpole, Robert G. O'Donnell, Jr., of Meredith, NH. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Judith M. O'Donnell. She was the sister of Marie Viehl of Revere and the late Patricia M. Carter. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, March 12 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Dorothea's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
