Donald L. Switzer, 82, a longtime resident of Easton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Tucker) Switzer for 60 years. Son of the late Howard and Erma (Goodworth) Switzer, he was born in Putnam, CT and raised in Stoughton. Donald was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1954. He was a resident of Easton since 1961. Donald worked at JW Wood in Stoughton and Buckley & Mann in Norfolk before being a supervisor at Draper Bros. in Canton until his retirement in 2001. He was a longtime and active communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Easton and was a Marian Medal Award recipient in 2008. He enjoyed the outdoors, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Donald was the father of David L. Switzer and his wife Alice of Easton, Michael J. Switzer and his wife Judy of Franklin, the late Jane M. Martin and her surviving husband Gregory of Nashua and the late Mark D. Switzer and his surviving wife Maura of Norton. He was the brother of Harry Switzer of Little Compton and Linda Strother of Virginia. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 16 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton.
