Donald H. Gallant, 82, died Thursday, July 11, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary K. (Healy) Gallant. Born in Burlington, VT, he was a graduate of Burlington, VT Schools. Mr. Gallant was a WWII Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a salesman in the tobacco industry until the age of 24 when he was injured and became disabled. Mr. Gallant was a resident of Hanover for over 11 years, and formerly lived in Miramar, FL and Canton. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and was a member of the 22nd Marines Association. He was an advocate for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Mr. Gallant was also a member of the Florida State Board for Architectural Barriers.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his daughters, Michele Luttge of Westport and Charlene Clark of NC. He was the grandfather of David Tokarz of FL.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Gerard Majella Church, 1860 Washington St., Canton on Wednesday, July 18 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. Donations in Don's name may be made to Mass Hospital School, 3 Randolph Ave, Canton, MA 02021. Burial will be private.
