Donald J. Doxtader, 93, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at home on Saturday, March 20. He was the husband of 60 years to Catherine J. (Joy) Doxtader. Born and educated in Little Falls, NY, he was a resident of Stoughton since 1952. Mr. Doxtader was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Following the war in 1949-1950, he worked in Chaguaramas, Trinidad as a civil servant disassembling the U.S. Naval Base. Donald was an electronics engineer for over 40 years, the last 20 years he spent as the plant engineer at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston before retiring in 1992. Mr. Doxtader was a member of Stoughton Fish & Game and an avid fisherman. A very religious gentleman, he enjoyed playing his favorite hymns on the organ. He also enjoyed photography and working with electronics.
Mr. Doxtader was the father of Joy E. Coras of Whitman, Gay E. Terrace of PA, Kim N. Maria and Jil C. Eisenhaur both of Stoughton and the late Jan A. Ahern. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Covenant Church, 1095 South St., Bridgewater on Thursday, March 25 at 2 PM. Visiting Hours omitted. Burial will be private.
