Donald M. Burton, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. He was the husband of the late Corrinne R. (Moulton) Burton. Son of the late James A. and Lucy B. (Colyer) Burton, he was born in Burnetta, KY and raised in Rossville, IL. Donald was a graduate of Boston College. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Burton was a resident of Stoughton for 31 years after living in Roslindale for 23 years. He was an accountant and financial manager for over 30 years, working at Walter E. Heller and Company, Bank of Boston and South Shore Bank before retiring in 1994. He was very active with the Bay State German Shepherd Club.
Donald is survived by his children, Cheryl A. Burton-West of Bolling Brook, IL, Teri L. Reed-Burton of Osterville, Mark A. Burton of Diamondhead, MS, Michelle M. Victor of St. John, USVI and Stephen G. Burton of Boston. He was the brother of Louetta Burton of Michigan, Jewel Ladd of Kentucky, Anita Gagnon of Illinois, Roy Burton of Texas and the late Juanita Steinwagner and Hettie Cornelius. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday, September 24 at 4 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 2-4 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald's memory may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, 55 Broadway, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10006.
