David F. Sweeney, 46, died at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Thursday, October 12 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Sandra M. (Russell) Sweeney. Born in Brighton, he was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1978. Mr. Sweeney was a Chef at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton for over 20 years. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion in Stoughton and the 20/40 Club at the First Parish Universalist Church in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed skiing and golfing and he was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sweeney is survived by his father, Francis V. Sweeney of Mashpee and his sisters, Karen Sweeney of IL, Debra Sweeney Anastos of Stoughton, Jan-Marie Sweeney Fernandez of VA and Nancy Campbell of Avon. He was the son-in-law of Bradford and Carol Russell of Stoughton. He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis M. (Morrissey) Sweeney.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 17 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Canton.
