David Stuart

David Stuart, age 82, died Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, surrounded by his family after a period of declining health. Born in Melrose, he was raised in Baldwinville, MA and was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School in Baldwinville. He then attended Western New England College and earned his Bachelor's degree and later received his Masters degree. He was a longtime member of the Army Reserves. In 1969 he married Rosemary L. Dugo, and together they spent over 56 years married and raised 3 beloved children. In 1983 they moved to Sudbury where they raised their family and spent over 37 years, and later made their home in West Bridgewater where they lived for 5 years. Over the past 2 years he has been lovingly cared for by the staff at Foremost of Sharon, where he was a beloved resident and enjoyed tending to the garden on site. David worked for Alexander & Alexander in Boston for many years, retiring in 1995. An avid outdoorsman, David loved all types of fishing, hiking and gardening and was active at the Sudbury Senior Center and a member of the Men’s Coffee Group. He also was very active in conservation work and a member of the Assabet Valley Conservation Committee for many years. Above all, David was happiest when he was surrounded by his beloved family.

In addition to his wife Rosemary L. (Dugo) Stuart, he is survived by his children, Sarah J. Benoit and her husband Paul and Mary P. Stuart all of Stoughton. He was predeceased by his son Peter B. Stuart and his twin brother Bruce Stuart. He was the beloved Papa of Cici and Noah Benoit, and is also survived by 2 nieces and their families. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Donations in David’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics of MA, 512 Forest St., Marlboro, MA 01752.
