David W. Gearin, 55, died Friday, November 22, 2019, at his home in Stoughton, after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved son of James W. and Marilyn C. (Hurley) Gearin of Stoughton. Born in Cambridge, he was raised and educated in Stoughton Schools and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1983. He furthered his education at Northeastern University and also earned his MBA from Babson College in Wellesley. Mr. Gearin was a longtime resident of Franklin, where he raised his children and was active in coaching. He returned to Stoughton 6 years ago. He was a longtime member of several men's ice hockey leagues and enjoyed spending time with family and friends in his free time.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Sean D. Gearin of S. Boston, formerly of Franklin and Caitlyn M. Gearin of Jamaica Plain, formerly of Franklin. He was the brother of Maureen T. Olejarz and her husband Gregory of Westboro, James M. Gearin and his wife Gretchen of MO and Nancy J. Farrell and her husband William of Franklin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 4-8 PM. Interment will be private. Donations in David's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., W. Bridgewater, MA 02379.
