David P. Bento, 65, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Stoughton after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Maria Fatima (Pimentel) Bento. Son of David Bento Rodrigues of Stoughton and the late Ines Espirito Santo (Ponte) Rodrigues, he was born, raised and educated in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He came to the United States in 1970 and settled in Stoughton. He worked as a welder for General Dynamics in Quincy for several years and then for Suburban Cleaners in Norwood. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his garage listening to the Portuguese Radio Stations, working in his yard, soccer and music.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Michelle B. Gomes and her husband Nelson of Stoughton and Dorothy T. Direnzo and her husband Mark of Avon. He was the brother of Zelia Araujo, Joe Bento, Vasco Bento, Ines Raposo, Aura Bento and Tomas Rodrigues all of Stoughton and Antero Bento of Portugal. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kailee Mason, Lourdes Direnzo and Rocco Direnzo and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, April 6, at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday, April 5, from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
