Darryl R. DuPont, 48, a longtime resident of the Stoughton area, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his home after a period of failing health. He was the son of Frances (Ziegler) DuPont of Stoughton and the late Joseph W. DuPont. Born in Cambridge, he was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mr. DuPont worked as a baker for Montillio's Bakery and White's Bakery both in Brockton and Royal Bakery in Cambridge. He also was a bartender at the Porter Street Bar in Stoughton. Known as an outgoing and caring person, Mr. DuPont was the recipient of the Carnegie Hero Award for helping save a boy from a dog attack. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking and camping.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Joseph W. Dupont of Abington, Cpl. James E. Dupont, USMC of NC, Samantha Dupont of FL and Brittni Dupont of NH. He was the brother of Joseph M. Dupont of Billerica, Stephen L. DuPont of Cambridge, Crystal M. Kniskern of Stoughton, Kande D. DuPont of Brockton, Gigi Y Hammond of Ware and Robin L. DuPont of Norton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 5-7 PM.
