Dale F. LaVelle, 80, a longtime resident of Brockton, died unexpectedly at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Saturday, April 27. He was the husband of 50 years of Joan F. (Murray) LaVelle. Born in Buffalo, NY, he attended Catholic University and graduated from Oblate College both in Washington, DC. Mr. LaVelle earned his Masters Degree in Education Languages from Boston State College. He was a resident of Brockton since 1970. Mr. LaVelle was a teacher, Director of Foreign Languages and Principal during his tenure at Stoughton High School, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He was also the Stoughton High School golf coach for many years. He was a member of the Mass. Teachers Association. He was an avid sportsman and voracious reader.

In addition to his wife, Mr. LaVelle is survived by his children, Maureen A. Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Brockton, Dale F. LaVelle, Jr. and his wife Yolanda of Newton and Kevin M. LaVelle of Quincy, as well as his grandchildren, Julianne Sullivan, Dale Andre, Sahra and Ethan LaVelle. He was the brother of Mary K. Bush of Lewiston, NY and Donald P. LaVelle and his wife Dorean of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Dale's memory may be sent to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N.
