Cynthia L. "Cindy" (Meagher) Fitzgerald

Cynthia L. “Cindy” (Meagher) Fitzgerald, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Fitzgerald. Born in Brockton, daughter of the late Nancy (Irving) Meagher and James J. Meagher, she was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1973. Cindy was also a graduate of Massasoit Community College in Brockton. She was a resident of Stoughton for many years before moving to East Bridgewater over 30 years ago and raising her family there. Cindy worked at Southeastern Regional Technical High School in Easton in the Cafeteria for over 25 years, retiring in 2021. She was a fan of music, especially 70s Rock, and was an accomplished cook and was famous for her Blondie Brownies, Orzo Salad and Corn Chowder. She loved to travel to Plymouth and reading and rarely missed an episode of General Hospital. In her free time, she loved being surrounded by her beloved family.

Cindy is survived by her two daughters, Lauren E. Costa and her husband Ryan of Brockton and Bailey A. Wade and her husband Nicholas of Taunton. She was the “Nana Nana” of Ella and RJ Costa and Benjamin and Cameron Wade. Cindy was the sister of Richard J. Meagher and his wife Elaine and Karen L. Meagher and her husband William Smith of Stoughton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Susan Duquette and her husband Thomas of East Bridgewater, several nieces and nephews and her stepson James Fitzgerald of Weymouth.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 10 AM-12 PM followed by Funeral Prayers at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy‘s memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, 02115.
