Cornelius F. "Neil" Doherty, of Stoughton, was granted eternal life on March 14, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Moraski) Doherty. Born in Boston, January 16, 1940 to Cornelius and Mary Doherty, he was raised in Boston and moved to Stoughton in 1968. He had a long career in the Stoughton, Avon and Franklin School Systems and at the Randolph Savings Bank.
In 1968, Neil married Jean (Moraski) on November 16, 1968. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with many friends and family and with a trip to Aruba where they renewed their wedding vows.
Neil was a devoted father and role model to his children; Paul and his wife Erin of Wellesley and Michelle Doherty of Hyde Park. He adored his granddaughter Emma Rose Doherty and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of Grace Cornelia Doherty, born on March 17th and named in his honor.
Neil was the youngest of four children. He was the Loving Brother of Elizabeth Whelan and her husband Daniel of Stoneham, William P. Doherty and his wife Carol of Walpole and the late Joseph Doherty. He was the brother in law of Joanne Doherty of Braintree.
He was the brother in law of Merritt Moraski of Randolph and Mary Crowley and her husband Dennis of Medway. He was the son in law of the late Merritt and Eugenia Moraski. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Trixi.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home 358 Park St. (Rt 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM In lieu of Flowers Donations in Neil's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis TN 38105, or to Mass. General Hospital NEONATAL Inst., 55 Fruit St., Blake 10, Boston, Ma 02114.
