Connie (Pires) Azevedo, 90, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 19, 2013. Daughter of the late Joseph S. and Caroline (Fernandes) Pires, she was born, raised and educated in Stoughton. She was a winder at Shawmut Woolen Mills in Stoughton then Draper Bros. in Canton for many years before retiring in 1988. Connie was a member of the Portuguese National Club Women's Auxiliary, joining the club when she was 16, making her a 74 year member. She was a member of the Mass. Catholic Women's Guild, the Stoughton Golden Agers, the Stoughton Historical Society and the Red Hat Mamas of Stoughton. She derived a lot of pleasure in her final years from singing with the Stoughton Senior Serenaders. She was very proud of being a founding member of the Our Lady of Fatima Fiesta at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Connie loved partying, dancing, music and being with family and friends.
Connie is survived by her children, John P. Azevedo of CA, Monica A. Thomas of OK, Ronald K. Aze of FL and Rita J. Balutis of SC. She was the sister of Henry Pires of Braintree, John Pires and Anthony "Butch" Pires both of Stoughton and the late Mary Silva and Joseph Pires. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, July 23 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Connie's memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church Grotto Fund, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
