Clifford L. Towner

Clifford L. Towner, 78, a longtime resident of Sharon, died peacefully March 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of 57 years of Virginia L. (Pyatt) Towner. Born in Boston, her was raised and educated in Dedham and Hyde Park and was a graduate of Boston Schools. Mr. Towner served in the United States Navy, where he met the love of his life, Virginia, who was also serving in the Navy at the same time in Norfolk, VA. Cliff was the founder and former owner of Boston Cooling and Heating. He was an avid outdoorsman who was the former president of the Sharon Fish & Game Club and was the former Chairman of the Sharon Lake Massapoag Committee. The lake and environmental issues were his passion and, because of Cliff, changes were made to Lake Massapoag that ensured the health of the lake for the community he loved. In the past, he coached several Little League Baseball and Men's Softball teams in Sharon and was involved with many other committees in Sharon over the years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his vacation home in Maine whenever he could. Cliff loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins and had the uncanny ability to call who would win before the game started. He always looked forward to playing cards on Thursday with some of his dearest friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Sharon Creighton and her husband Paul of Mansfield, Cliff "Bobby" Towner of Sharon and Keith Towner and his wife Robyn of Plainville. He was the brother of Daniel Towner and Deborah Thomas both of VT. Cliff was the loving and proud grandfather of Courtney Creighton and Kaylea Towner, whom he loved more than can be expressed. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends whom he considered to be family.

Graveside services will be held in the Rock Ridge Cemetery, 101 East St., Sharon on Saturday, March 18 at 10:30 AM. Friends and family welcome. Donations in Cliff's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
